How it works
- 1.First, six short sentences said the way a native speaker says them, with the real reductions. You pick what each one meant.
- 2.Then three conversations: one in the style of B2, one of C1, one of C2. Each is heard in full and has six questions.
- 3.Your level is the highest band you pass without failing one below it. A band is passed at 4 correct out of 6.
B1 band
1 / 4Listen to each sentence as many times as you like and choose what it meant. They are at normal speed, not slowed down.

2.What did the speaker say?

How it is scored, and what it does not measure
The test measures one thing: listening comprehension. Not grammar, not written vocabulary, not how you speak. For your overall level there is the level test on this site; for speaking, only speaking counts.
The B1 band uses single sentences at native speed because that is what separates B1 from what is below it: not the words, but hearing them when they stick together. The B2, C1 and C2 bands use conversations in the format of the Cambridge exams, the same ones you will find in this section's tests.
Your level is the highest band you pass without skipping one: if you pass C1 but fail B2, the result stays at B1, because scoring above while failing below is nearly always luck. If you do not pass B1, the result is A2 and the test says so plainly.
The audio is that of our published tests. If you have already taken those three, this result does not count: take the other tests at each level instead.
FROM WHAT YOU READ TO WHAT YOU SAY
