The cheapest and the most expensive
On the US App Store the yearly plans are where the real price sits: Loora from $59.99 a year, Praktika from $49.99, ELSA from $71, Speak $83.99 and TalkPal $119.99. Monthly, most of them cluster at $15 to $20.
Gliglish is the cheapest specialist at $8 a month or $49 a year. Among general assistants, ChatGPT Go is $8 a month and Gemini AI Plus $4.99.
Free plan or free trial: they are not the same
A free plan is permanent and capped: Gliglish (10 minutes a day), TalkPal (10 minutes a day), Praktika (3 avatars, limited speaking), ELSA (the first lessons of every topic), ChatGPT and Gemini (voice with a daily limit), Fluvia (first conversations that do not expire).
A free trial ends: Speak (7 days, payment method first), Loora (one full lesson), ELSA (7 days), TalkPal Premium (14 days). After the trial the app becomes a subscription.
What you are actually paying for
Mostly, unlimited speaking time. Praktika’s and Loora’s paid plans unlock unlimited practice; TalkPal Premium removes the 10-minute cap; Speak’s Premium opens the whole course. ELSA’s Premium opens every pronunciation lesson.
