Fluvia

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 21, 2026

This policy explains what information Fluvia collects when you use our mobile app or fluvia.chat, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what choices you have — including how to delete your account. It applies anywhere you use Fluvia, on any device.

Who is behind this policy

Fluvia is operated by an individual (not a registered company), based in Ecuador. For any question about this policy or about your data, write to us at soporte@fluvia.chat.

Information we collect

Your account data. When you sign up, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your name. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from them instead of asking you for a password, along with the stable account identifier they issue so we can recognise you on your next sign-in. Passwords are never stored in plain text — only a one-way cryptographic hash.

The content you create. Fluvia is a learning app, so most of what we store is the practice content you generate by using it: vocabulary and phrasal verbs you save, idioms you collect, conversation transcripts, listening test results, writing drafts and their feedback, notes, and any daily goals you set. This is what makes it possible to track your progress and to pick up where you left off.

Microphone audio.Speaking exercises use your microphone. Where your device has an offline speech model installed for the language, transcription happens on the device itself and the recording never leaves it. Where it doesn't, your phone falls back to Apple's or Google's own speech recognition service, which means the audio is sent to them for transcription — this is your device's built-in capability, not something we operate. Certain higher-fidelity modes send a recording to our transcription provider instead. In every case, only the resulting text is stored on our servers, never the audio recording.

Usage information. We keep internal, aggregated records of which features you use and how often, so that we can improve the app and understand our own operating costs. This is not shared with advertisers — we have no third-party advertising or analytics SDK in the app.

Anonymous website visits. When you visit fluvia.chat without an account (for example, from an ad or a social media post), we record the page, the referrer, and a one-way hash of your IP address combined with a salt that changes daily. This lets us count unique visitors per day without ever storing or being able to recover your real IP address, and it is not linked to any account.

How we use your information

We use your information to operate the app: generate personalized exercises, grade your practice, track your progress over time, keep your account secure, and respond when you contact us. We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Some of your content is processed by third parties in order to make the app's features possible. Specifically: OpenAI generates exercises, conversation replies and feedback, and transcribes recordings sent for higher-fidelity modes; ElevenLabs converts text to speech; Neon hosts our database; Vercel hosts the application, so requests pass through its infrastructure; Resend delivers our account emails (verification codes, password resets); and OneSignalsends the app's notifications (push, in-app messages and practice-reminder emails), for which it receives a device identifier, your account ID, and whether you open those notifications — you can turn them off at any time in your device settings, and the emails through the unsubscribe link in each one. These providers process data on our behalf, under their own security and privacy commitments, and do not use it independently to train their own models or for any other purpose of their own. We do not share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.

If you subscribe to Premium, the payment is handled by Apple (in the iPhone app) or by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record on the website, which takes the payment, handles sales tax and sends your receipt.RevenueCat keeps App Store subscription status in sync with our servers. We receive your plan, its status and renewal date, and the email used at web checkout; we never see or store your card details.

How long we keep your data, and account deletion

We keep your account and content for as long as you use Fluvia. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account in the app.

When you do, your account is deactivated immediately — you are signed out, and it can no longer be used to sign in. Within 30 days, all of your content (vocabulary, conversations, writing, everything else you created) and your personal information (email, name) are permanently deleted. The only thing we keep afterwards is a one-way cryptographic hash of your original email — not the email itself, nor anything that can be reversed to obtain it — stored solely to detect abuse of our free usage limits (for example, someone repeatedly deleting and recreating accounts to evade them). This is the minimum we keep, and it can never identify you or be used to contact you.

Your rights

No matter where you are located, you can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information at any time — delete it yourself from the app, or write to us at soporte@fluvia.chat for any other request. We apply the same practices to all of our users, regardless of country, rather than offering different protections by region.

Children's privacy

Fluvia is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under that age. If you believe a child created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information — encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and access controls on our systems. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data appropriately given its nature.

International data transfers

Our servers and infrastructure providers may be located in a country other than yours. By using Fluvia, you understand that your information may be processed outside your home country.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. We will update the date at the top when we do, and if a change is significant, we will make a reasonable effort to notify you inside the app.

Language of this document

This English version is a translation provided for convenience. These terms are governed by the laws of Ecuador, and the Spanish version is the authoritative one — if the two ever differ, the Spanish text prevails.
