Most level tests online hand you a number and little else. This one gives you the breakdown: how many you got right in each CEFR band, and how you did separately on grammar, vocabulary and reading. That second part is usually the interesting one, because almost nobody sits at the same level across all three.
The questions are grouped by level, A2 through C2, and get harder as you go. You don't have to finish if you stall — the result is worked out from what you answered.
What it measures, and what it doesn't
- It measures grammar, vocabulary in context, and reading comprehension. Those are the three things a written test can assess honestly.
- It does not measure your speaking or your listening. No written test can, and the ones claiming otherwise are handing you an invented number. If you want to know where your listening sits, the listening tests on this site are a far more direct measure.
- The result is an estimate, not a certificate. Thirty questions place a band fairly reliably; they don't separate a freshly reached C1 from a solid one.
